Our process

On-Farm Inspections

We've been buying successful racehorses for several decades and have a proven record of success. Each year, we attend on-farm parades to work our way through the Karaka catalogue to ensure no stone is left unturned.

Yearling Sales

The Kingsclere Stables team are available to attend all major Yearling and Ready to Run Sales. Countless hours are spent finding the perfect individual, and the team's focus is firmly on identifying the next stable star.

Breaking-in

Before a horse can enter Kingsclere Stables to commence their training preparation, it will need to be broken-in. This process generally takes around six weeks and is where the horse learns to be ridden.

Stable Preparation

Once a horse has been broken-in, he will come into the stable for an educational preparation. During this process, the horse will be introduced to the demands of trackwork, and he will also learn to get settled into a distinct routine.

Spelling

To keep a horse in peak physical and mental condition, they must spend time in the paddock (spelling). Roger and Sally own and operate a premier spelling facility where client horses are welcome to frequent.

Jumpouts

Jumpouts are an educational tool used to teach a horse how to dispatch quickly from the starting gates. This process also teaches a horse to load in an orderly fashion while in the company of other young horses

Trials

Trials are non-betting races used for a variety of reasons, including; gaining experience, confidence, fitness, or for having a 'hit out' between runs. Most horses will trial at some point in their preparation, but some may head straight to the races.

The Races

Once fit and ready, a horse will head to the races. Roger and Robert establish a carefully mapped out racing program to suit each horse. Programs are built around giving every horse the best possible chance of winning.
